Mokolwane

Deep in the untouched south-west of the Okavango Delta, nestled in the vast Xudum concession area (NG29) covering around 180,000–200,000 hectares of wilderness, lies Mokolwane Lodge – a truly tranquil retreat in the heart of nature. With just seven lovingly designed tented suites, raised above the ground and hidden among fig, ilala and mangosteen trees, it offers the utmost comfort and a direct connection to wildlife.

Here you are alone with the silence of the wilderness – a place where elephants sometimes pass right by your terrace. The region is one of the best leopard areas in Africa, with the third highest leopard density – many safari photographers and even wildlife filmmakers use this place as a living backdrop.

Culinary

At Mokolwane Lodge, cuisine becomes an atmospheric part of the safari experience. In the heart of the Okavango Delta, guests enjoy freshly prepared dishes that combine regional ingredients with international influences. From a hearty breakfast before the morning game drive to light lunches and multi-course dinners in the evening – every meal is lovingly prepared and served outdoors or in the atmospheric main dining area. The bush dinners are particularly unforgettable: as the sun slowly sinks behind the floodplains and the campfire flickers, an atmosphere is created that could hardly be more authentic. Private sundowners in secluded spots are also part of the lodge's culinary experience.

Activities

Mokolwane Lodge in the Okavango Delta offers authentic safari experiences that immerse guests deep into the untouched wilderness. Game drives depart daily in the morning and late afternoon, offering opportunities to observe herds of elephants, lions, wild dogs and the region's particularly high density of leopards – the area is one of the best places in Africa to spot these fascinating big cats. After sunset, a new world opens up: night safaris offer unique encounters with the shy animals of the darkness. Depending on the season, mokoro trips through the glittering waterways or exciting helicopter flights over the delta complement the programme.

Location

Mokolwane Lodge is located in the heart of the unspoilt Xudum Concession (NG29), one of the wildest and most exclusive parts of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Surrounded by around 200,000 hectares of unspoilt nature, the region offers vast floodplains, mopane forests and palm islands – a habitat that is home to elephants, lions, hyenas and an exceptionally high density of leopards.

Thanks to its secluded location, guests can experience a safari area far away from the beaten track, where silence and unspoilt nature are still omnipresent. The lodge's elevated position between fig and mangosteen trees offers sweeping views over the seasonally flooded plains.
