Makakatana Bay Lodge consists of eight spacious accommodations, each individually placed on a raised deck. Situated in the wooded dune landscape of the lake, the accommodations are surrounded by trees and offer fascinating views. The modern furnishings with wooden elements combine the beauty of nature with high-quality furnishings to create a unique ambience.

Excellent meals are prepared daily at Makakatana Bay Lodge. In the evening, there is an outstanding dinner consisting exclusively of top-quality products and served under the breathtaking starry African sky. An unforgettable experience! Location

Makakatana Bay Lodge is located on the shores of Lake St Lucia, the largest lake in South Africa, in the east of the country. The area around the lake is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a national park that is home to the highest crocodile and hippo populations in South Africa. The nearby Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in South Africa, is also home to leopards also home to leopards, rhinos, buffalo and other animals.

Activities

The region is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The location directly on the shores of the lake is ideal for relaxing boat trips. The beaches of the Indian Ocean are only a few kilometres away and are not really suitable for swimming. The ideal location of the lodge also allows guests to enjoy a first-class safari experience in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. This is home to the Big 5, among others.
