Time + Tide Luwi

Time + Tide Luwi Camp is one of the most authentic bushcamps in South Luangwa National Park – remote, wild and deeply connected to nature. Just four tents sit beneath ancient mahogany trees, far from any other lodge. For travellers seeking a Zambia safari with true solitude and authenticity, Luwi is the perfect choice. The nearby oxbow lagoon draws hippos and elephants, while the dry riverbed becomes a pathway for wildlife. Luwi is a place where you feel completely immersed in the wilderness – and that is its greatest luxury.

Surrounded by birdsong and the rustle of leaves, you quickly sense how close the wildlife is. Instead of elaborate luxury, the atmosphere here combines intimacy, authenticity and a feeling of being truly at home in the wild – a defining highlight of any Zambia journey.

Culinary

Even in this remote setting, the camp’s culinary team creates meals that blend Zambian flavours with global inspiration. Fresh ingredients are prepared with creativity and often served outdoors – whether it’s breakfast at dawn, a picnic on safari, or dinner by the fire. Each meal becomes part of the adventure, weaving fine cuisine into the fabric of your Zambia safari.

Activities

Luwi is a walking safari haven. Guided on foot, you may follow lion tracks, encounter wild dogs or notice the small wonders of the bush. Day and night drives complement the experience with sightings of elephants, hippos and leopards. A highlight is the wildlife hide overlooking the lagoon, where you can watch hippos and other animals undisturbed. For adventurous travellers, few places capture the raw thrill of a Zambia safari like Luwi.

Location

Set along the seasonal Luwi River in South Luangwa National Park, the camp is wonderfully secluded – with no neighbours for miles. The area is famous for its lion prides and wild dog packs, offering exceptional wildlife encounters. Reached in about two hours by game drive from Mfuwe Airport, the journey itself feels like part of the safari. Luwi also combines seamlessly with nearby Time + Tide camps, making it a cornerstone of multi-day walking safaris in Zambia.
