Entamanu Ngorongoro

Thanks to its unique location on the edge of the famous Ngorongoro Crater in north-eastern Tanzania, Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp combines two worlds. Stylish and relaxed, it is off the beaten track. While you can admire the atmospheric sunrise over the crater in the morning, you can experience the equally impressive sunset over the Serengeti. Every game drive or hike here promises not only authentic encounters with Africa's wildlife, but also impressive panoramic views over the vast landscape. Entamanu Ngorongoro is committed to protecting this wonderful natural beauty by working closely with the local Maasai tribes, whose unique and fascinating culture is an integral part of the fragile ecosystem. When you feel the cold wind blowing up from the crater in the evening, you know that this is where the real Ngorongoro life takes place.

Rooms

The seven comfortably furnished suites at Entamanu Ngorongoro are built in collaboration with the local Maasai community on wooden platforms and from local materials. Each of the accommodations is decorated with great attention to detail in the colors of the surrounding nature. Wooden furniture, thick carpets and art objects by Tanzanian craftsmen and artists round off the rustic yet tasteful interior design. From a spacious and shaded deck, guests enjoy breathtaking views over the Ngorongoro Crater. Thanks to reinforced tent walls and a heater, it stays cozy and warm even on the cool and windy nights. The en-suite bathrooms in the accommodation are equipped with a toilet, a shower with hot running water and a double washbasin. Two of the suites have two bedrooms and a shared bathroom, making them particularly suitable for families.

Culinary

The communal area of Entamanu Ngorongoro is just as tastefully furnished as the rest of the camp. The rustic wooden floor is covered by straw mats and in the two lounge areas, comfortable seating awaits guests who want to relax their tired muscles and talk about the day's events. A large veranda with a view of a sacred fig tree, which is often used by the Maasai for ceremonies, also offers space for relaxation. In the adjoining dining area, guests enjoy traditionally rich and fresh safari cuisine with a varied breakfast with hot and cold options as well as a buffet lunch with a large selection of salads. Dinner is always an extensive 3-course menu that will make even gourmets indulge.

Location

Entamanu Ngorongoro is located on a remote plateau on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater under the hot African sun and in the midst of the cold night winds. The crater's extraordinary ecosystem is home to 25,000 mammals and countless bird species.

Activities

At Entamanu Ngorongoro, no two days are the same. Due to its special location, right on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, it is only a short walk to the crater floor, so that guests of the camp can arrive shortly after sunrise during a morning game drive and avoid the tourist safari buses that arrive later. In addition to game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater, guided walks accompanied by a ranger offer an opportunity to get to know the region even better and experience the bush up close. In addition to the highlands around the crater, there is also a tour to a nearby Maasai village. Guests of Entamanu Ngorongoro are warmly welcomed by this fascinating tribe and given an insight into life in the traditional boma, the work of the cattle herders and the tribal ceremonies of the warriors.
