Luxury tents of a Salas Camp near a river, surrounded by lush greenery and open plains in Masai Mara.

Sala’s Camp

Sala’s Camp in the Masai Mara is idyllically situated on the Sand River, right at the border with the Serengeti in Kenya. This intimate safari camp is part of the renowned Safari Collection and is a hidden gem for those wanting to experience the Masai Mara in its most authentic form. During the Great Migration, herds of wildebeest and zebras pass through here, but even outside of those months, you can expect a safari with exceptionally high numbers of predator and elephant sightings. The tents open up to the vast savannah, with sundowners by the river and evenings around the campfire under the starry sky rounding off the experience. Sala’s Camp is ideal for couples and families looking for an authentic safari in Kenya with a personal touch.

Activities

The focus is on game drives in open vehicles – morning, afternoon, or as a day trip with a picnic. During the Great Migration in the Masai Mara, the routes lead to the river crossings, while outside of the season, encounters with lions, cheetahs, elephants, and rhinos await. For those who wish, a bush breakfast or sundowner at spectacular viewpoints can be enjoyed. Visits to the local community or hot air balloon rides can also be included. Children experience nature playfully, while adults spend the afternoon by the pool or in the evening by the campfire.

Location

Sala’s Camp is located in the southern part of the Masai Mara National Reserve, directly on the Sand River and not far from the border with Tanzania. This location makes it one of the best places for the Great Migration in Kenya when herds of wildebeests and zebras cross the river. However, even outside of migration season, the area is rich in wildlife and offers excellent safari experiences year-round. The camp is easily accessible by flight to Keekorok or Olkiombo Airstrip, followed by a transfer through wildlife-rich areas. With its secluded yet well-connected location, Sala’s Camp is the ideal starting point to intensely experience the magic of the Masai Mara.
