01 Arusha

Gateway to the safari

Your Tanzania tour begins in Arusha, a lush town at the foot of Mount Meru. Depending on your arrival time, you may simply relax and enjoy the anticipation of the days ahead. If you arrive earlier, a stroll through the gardens or a short excursion nearby is possible. The nearby Arusha National Park offers a first glimpse of giraffes and monkeys. Whether with views over coffee plantations or during a quiet dinner, Arusha provides the right introduction before your safari adventure unfolds.

Overnight: Katambuga House

Elephants drinking water under large Baobab trees in a dry landscape with sparse trees in the background.
A leopard resting on a tree branch in Tarangire National Park, Tanzania.
02 Tarangire National Park

Home of the Elephants

Although part of the classic safari circuit, Tarangire remains a hidden gem. Its rolling hills and mighty baobab trees create a striking backdrop, while large elephant herds wander through the plains. Game drives bring encounters with giraffes, zebras, antelopes and lions. Tarangire is also one of the few parks where walking safaris are possible, offering a fresh perspective on the bush. In the evening, calm returns as the light softens and the savanna glows in warm colors – a perfect end to the day.

Overnight: Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge

Two Maasai women dressed in traditional blue attire and elaborate bead jewelry in Karatu, Tanzania.
A group of zebras standing in a grassy savannah with some trees around.
Tanzanian landscape with a water body, grazing animals, and a vehicle at the Ngorongoro Crater with mountains in the background.
03 Ngorongoro Crater

Safari in the World Heritage Site

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife areas. Driving down into the vast caldera, you enter a world where lions, zebras, buffalo and – with a little luck – even rhinos share the same space. The view from the crater rim across the green plains is unforgettable. In nearby Karatu, surrounded by coffee plantations, you can experience rural Tanzania or join a walk through the gardens and hills. This stop combines impressive wildlife encounters with glimpses of local life.

Overnight: The Plantation Lodge

A young elephant and an adult elephant walking through tall grass in a savannah landscape.
A cheetah with the face of a smiling human, lying in tall grass in the Serengeti
A young lion cub with piercing blue eyes sitting among foliage in Serengeti, Tanzania.
04 Serengeti National Park

Experience Endless Plains

The Serengeti is the heart of every Tanzania Safari. Its endless savannas and varied landscapes are home to the legendary Great Migration – immense herds of wildebeest and zebras, followed closely by predators. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti offers thrilling encounters with elephants, giraffes, lion prides and cheetahs. Morning and evening game drives reveal the land in its most beautiful light, when the plains glow in soft tones. Here you experience the wild, untamed Africa in its purest form – a highlight of any safari.

Overnight: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge

An aerial view of a sandy beach with turquoise water waves lapping onto the shore, and palm tree shadows cast on the sand.

Farewell or beach extension

After unforgettable days in the bush, your Tanzania Safari comes to an end. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy one last game drive or a relaxed morning before returning to Arusha for your onward journey. From here, you either fly home – carrying memories of the savanna – or continue to Zanzibar. White sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a slower rhythm await, the perfect complement to your safari adventure.
